Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud

2026/10/22 - Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud - 2 new 5 updated api methods

Changes  AWS Transit Gateway now provides managed one-to-one NAT directly on its attachments, through integration with Regional Private NAT Gateway. Use ModifyTransitGatewayAttachmentNatConfiguration to enable NAT and configure NAT rules, and GetTransitGatewayAttachmentNatConfiguration to view them.

ModifyTransitGatewayAttachmentNatConfiguration (new) Link ¶

Modifies the NAT configuration for the specified transit gateway attachment. Use this operation to do the following:

  • Enable or disable NAT gateway support for the attachment.

  • Specify whether the transit gateway installs routes for the NAT CIDRs.

  • Replace the NAT gateway rules for the attachment.

Only the owner of the transit gateway can modify the NAT configuration.

With NAT gateway support enabled, the transit gateway translates addresses in each rule's MatchSourceCidr range to the corresponding addresses in its NatCidr range.

The transit gateway applies changes asynchronously. To check the result, use GetTransitGatewayAttachmentNatConfiguration.

    TransitGatewayAttachmentId='string',
    NatGatewaySupport='enable'|'disable',
    NatSystemRouteSupport='enable'|'disable',

            'MatchSourceCidr': 'string',
            'NatCidr': 'string'
        },
    ],
    ResetNatGatewayRules=True|False,
    DryRun=True|False
)
type TransitGatewayAttachmentId:

string

param TransitGatewayAttachmentId:

[REQUIRED]

The ID of the transit gateway attachment.

type NatGatewaySupport:

string

param NatGatewaySupport:

Specifies whether to enable or disable NAT gateway support for the attachment. To enable NAT gateway support, the attachment must have at least one NAT gateway rule. You can't modify the NAT configuration while NAT gateway support is enabling or disabling. If you omit this parameter, the current value doesn't change.

type NatSystemRouteSupport:

string

param NatSystemRouteSupport:

Specifies whether the transit gateway installs routes for the NAT CIDRs in the route tables to which the attachment propagates. For VPC attachments, the transit gateway always installs these routes. You can enable or disable this option only for Amazon Web Services Direct Connect gateway attachments and Site-to-Site VPN attachments that use dynamic routing. For these attachments, the default is enable. If you omit this parameter, the current value doesn't change.

type NatGatewayRules:

list

param NatGatewayRules:

The NAT gateway rules for the attachment. The rules that you specify replace all existing NAT gateway rules for the attachment. You can specify up to 50 rules for an attachment. If you omit this parameter, the existing rules don't change. To remove all rules, use ResetNatGatewayRules.

  • (dict) --

    Describes a NAT gateway rule to apply to a transit gateway attachment. A NAT gateway rule translates source addresses in the MatchSourceCidr range to the corresponding addresses in the NatCidr range.

    • RuleNumber (integer) --

      The rule number. Valid values are 1 to 32766. Each rule number must be unique within the request.

    • MatchSourceCidr (string) --

      The IPv4 CIDR block of the source addresses to translate. The CIDR block can't overlap the multicast range ( 224.0.0.0/4) or the link-local range ( 169.254.0.0/16).

    • NatCidr (string) --

      The IPv4 CIDR block to translate the source addresses to. The CIDR block must be in a private (RFC 1918) or shared address space (RFC 6598) range, and must have the same prefix length as MatchSourceCidr. The CIDR blocks in the rules for an attachment can't overlap each other.

type ResetNatGatewayRules:

boolean

param ResetNatGatewayRules:

Specifies whether to remove all NAT gateway rules from the attachment. If you omit this parameter, the transit gateway doesn't remove any rules. You can't specify this parameter together with NatGatewayRules. Because you can't enable NAT gateway support without rules, also set NatGatewaySupport to disable in the same request if NAT gateway support is currently enabled.

type DryRun:

boolean

param DryRun:

Checks whether you have the required permissions for the action, without actually making the request, and provides an error response. If you have the required permissions, the error response is DryRunOperation. Otherwise, it is UnauthorizedOperation.

type TransitGatewayRouteTableId:

string

param TransitGatewayRouteTableId:

[REQUIRED]

The ID of the transit gateway route table.

type Filters:

list

param Filters:

[REQUIRED]

One or more filters. The possible values are:

  • attachment.transit-gateway-attachment-id- The id of the transit gateway attachment.

  • attachment.resource-id - The resource id of the transit gateway attachment.

  • attachment.resource-type - The attachment resource type. Valid values are vpc | vpn | direct-connect-gateway | peering | connect.

  • prefix-list-id - The ID of the prefix list.

  • route-search.exact-match - The exact match of the specified filter.

  • route-search.longest-prefix-match - The longest prefix that matches the route.

  • route-search.subnet-of-match - The routes with a subnet that match the specified CIDR filter.

  • route-search.supernet-of-match - The routes with a CIDR that encompass the CIDR filter. For example, if you have 10.0.1.0/29 and 10.0.1.0/31 routes in your route table and you specify supernet-of-match as 10.0.1.0/30, then the result returns 10.0.1.0/29.

  • state - The state of the route ( active | blackhole).

  • type - The type of route ( propagated | static).

  • (dict) --

    A filter name and value pair that is used to return a more specific list of results from a describe operation. Filters can be used to match a set of resources by specific criteria, such as tags, attributes, or IDs.

    If you specify multiple filters, the filters are joined with an AND, and the request returns only results that match all of the specified filters.

    For more information, see List and filter using the CLI and API in the Amazon EC2 User Guide.

    • Name (string) --

      The name of the filter. Filter names are case-sensitive.

    • Values (list) --

      The filter values. Filter values are case-sensitive. If you specify multiple values for a filter, the values are joined with an OR, and the request returns all results that match any of the specified values.

      • (string) --

type MaxResults:

integer

param MaxResults:

The maximum number of routes to return. If a value is not provided, the default is 1000.

type DryRun:

boolean

param DryRun:

Checks whether you have the required permissions for the action, without actually making the request, and provides an error response. If you have the required permissions, the error response is DryRunOperation. Otherwise, it is UnauthorizedOperation.

type NextToken:

string

param NextToken:

The token for the next page of results.

rtype:

dict
